Project - The Lagos Island Temple Building Project

The Island of Lagos Temple Building Project is a proposed center for Rosicrucian excellence and positive publicity to the Rosicrucian Order AMORC. It is planned as a focal point for spreading the Sacred Light of Rosicrucianism in the Lagos Island area and the Grand Lodge in general. The project is an audacious attempt to erect a model building and premises that reflect the utmost beauty and purity of the Rosicrucian ideal, where “our consciousness finds shelter here in harmonious surroundings.“

The Lagos Island Temple will serve a wide area in the densely populated Lagos – a geographical cluster stretching from parts of Surulere to Lagos Island to Victoria Island/Ikoyi all the way to Ajah and up to Epe bordering the neighbouring Ogun State.
History - History of the Lagos Island Temple Building Project

Lagos Island Chapter AMORC (LICA) became a Pronaos of the English West Africa Administration of the Order in 1982. However, plans to build a place of worship began in 1996, over 25 years ago, when the Affiliated Body relocated to its current site and began activities within a small, make-shift wooden enclosure. Plagued by delays in Government approval to build, and after several unsuccessful attempts to commence building, the approval to commence work would only be received in July 2021 following which construction commenced in September 2023.

Completion – Pictorial Inspiration for the Temple Project

We are greatly inspired by the dreams and labours of love of others before us. Since the mid-1990s when the dream of a model Rosicrucian Temple was birthed in many members, we have held this dream in incubation, nurturing it and never letting go of the desire for a befitting place for work and worship. May you too be inspired by the spirit of Rosicrucian excellence we hope to reproduce.
